COVID-19 is in North East; Manipur records its first case

Bad news for the Northeast as Corona Virus (Covid-19) has reached in the region. Manipur has recorded the first confirmed Novel Coronavirus case yesterday i.e 24/03/2020. However, the second test report is awaited.

A 23-year-old from Imphal (west) has been identified as the first Novel Corona Virus victim of the State. Who was traveled from UK, the person is being treated at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (JNIMS).

Meanwhile, the state Health Department and Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh have confirmed the case. Joykumar was quoted as saying that one case has been depicted as positive. “So, now we are taking the possible precautions that are necessary,” he said. The victim had reached to Imphal via Calcutta and Agartala.

Now authorities have an uphill task to trace who were her co-passengers in that flight.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 death toll in the country stands at 10 on Tuesday with nearly 500 confirmed cases of the infection. Maharashtra tops the list of states with the most number of confirmed cases and deaths.
